Over the past years the legal industry has rapidly grown and this has led to the rise of law firms globally with multiple job positions. Below is a list of popular law firm jobs and careers within the legal industry.

Lawyer is one of the best law firm careers that are available in the legal industry. Lawyers job involve representing and advising both individual and businesses on matters of the law. It is also part of their job to offer legal advise to their clients in order to show their support. Lawyers are required to know the law and do a lot of research in order to be updated with the current laws and regulations. The attorneys may have one or two speciality and that means representing different type of clients.

There is the legal secretary career and it involves performing clerical tasks. It is the duty of the legal secretary to type correspondences, prepare reports, schedule appointments for the lawyer, answering calls and update the lawyers calendar. In addition to these tasks, the legal secretary sends letters to clients notifying them of court date and manage the clients list. Some legal secretaries will also prepare the law firms financial report and evaluate how much time each lawyer spends on the case.

Paralegals, help the lawyers in accomplishing a variety o duties and they are mostly known as the layers right hand man. They offer administrative assistance like the legal secretaries but their position entails more responsibility. Most paralegals will perform the tasks of the attorney when they are not available such as representing clients and giving legal advice. Some might have the task of filing the documents and arranging them in order for easy retrieval. This can be done using the document management system which sorts the information by the keywords, date or case type.

Information Technology (IT) managers have the responsibility of improving the firms computer systems. Other IT employees perform day-to-day tasks on the computer systems to ensure proper functionality. With right computer systems, lawyers are able to retrieve and store important information that will help them with their case. The computer system administrator handles the safety of confidential information and ensures the systems are properly connected to the network.

Record clerk is a legal career where the clerks are tasked with the responsibility of organizing; maintaining and keeping track of the lawyers case files. They also pack boxes, label them and arrange for their delivery.

Lastly, we have the bookkeepers who maintain the financial records of a law firm. Some of their duties include processing cheques, handling the payroll, send invoices and collect payments.
